Wedding at Buffalo National River in Ponca Arkansas

Buffalo National River Elopement

Intimate elopement along The Buffalo National River in Ponca, Arkansas

I’ll be the first to admit that Arkansas was not the top choice on my places to settle down in life —actually it never even crossed my mind. I have found myself in places around the world humbled and shook by the sights of the relentless mountains, the infinite views of the ocean as it consumes the sunset, and the intricate architecture from the Medieval and Renaissance periods in Europe. I’ve never been able to truly articulate what these places do for me internally, but it’s that feeling of breathing in heavily and slowly letting go when you finally see the mountains after a 12 hour drive, feeling that excitement that seems to grow from your stomach, and the liberating release of all your day-to-day worries is how I would put it.

The first time I saw the Buffalo National River, I was overcome and speechless. When you are sitting on the riverbed listening to the water flowing, staring up at the towering bluffs watching the birds take these graceful dives to the water to drink, you get this overwhelming sense of peace. These bluff’s and the river sit here everyday, watching the world go by peacefully and humbly. It’s a beautiful reminder that you’re looking back in time, observing the history and beauty this place has given us all these years.

Allison & Andrew chose the Buffalo River at Steel Creek as their wedding location. I always immediately feel deeply connected to my couples when I see this pop up in my inbox. It’s like we all resonate with the feelings this place provides us. I’ve said it before, but I have been so fortuitous when it comes to my couples. Ali & Andrew are that couple that you just want to be around. I had not spent a lot of time with them prior to their elopement, but the minute they wrapped me in their arms with hugs it was just this instant friendship. To this day, their ceremony leaves me emotional. When Andrew saw his beautiful bride walking towards him, his jaw dropped, I could see tears welling up in his eyes and I don’t think he ever blinked once. It still makes me emotional even writing this because you could just feel and see the love all the while surrounded by one of the most beautiful places in the world. Ali & Andrew had one of the most meaningful and unique ceremonies that consisted of crystals, a rock circle and closing the circle around them. Keep reading to find out more from their incredible officiant Will Hall.

From the bride:

The Ceremony by Will Hall:

Using intentional movements we brought the mystical in to the physical by imitating the way  the divine love brings us into being. We built a circle using the primal elements and moving around the circle we made the vows related to what makes us human beings. And after the last stones were place we had taken two individuals and created a third being the two became three and returned to one.
